My boyfriend showed me this song this morning and I haven't been able to get the song or the video out of my head since! It's so simple and beautiful, I love girls with strong voices like hers. As soon as I heard it I thought of Queen meets Shakira yet totally unique. Plus she's gorgeous.

This is going to be my song of the week I think.

Hunting for new music used to be one of my most favorite pass times, but since I left for University all my time has been devoted to my art, or other work and I get overwhelmed by all the new wonderful music out there. I'm starting to search a little more now that I'm home for the holidays, because my iPod desperately needs a new years makeover. The first new album I'm adding is Actor by St. Vincent who my boyfriend (who regularly writes music reviews so I'm in good hands) introduced me to this week. I adore her already and can't wait to find more. Any suggestions or favorites?

This week has been wonderful. It started on Sunday with finding a perfect pair of jeans, I found two lovely girls to be roommates with next fall on Monday, and last night had the perfect Friday night date with Ryan to see The Reader, which was a great movie (Kate was amazing!) and hot chocolate by the fire.

I'm also going to steal this opportunity to take a proud girlfriend moment and mention that Ryan interviewed indie rapper from Brooklyn Theophilus London! So cool...and there's more to come, I'm really excited for him. You can read it here on his blog.

have a nice weekend!

This song Photograph by Air has been my favorite for a few days. So many beautiful sounds. I've been meaning to get their latest album Pocket Symphony for a while, but I'm going to pick it up next time I'm out. I would love to see them live. They make the sexiest music.

Also, Ryan made a great top ten albums list of 2008 here

Today I am not going to go shopping, because at this point I am physically and financially exhausted from it. Instead I'm going to stay home and read with this song in my head, and be excited for The City.

I love this quatrefoil purse by Comme des Garçons I found in Domino magazine's gorgeous November issue as an editor's pick. Ryan and I had a fun day at the school galleries and I bought my first CD in months, In Ghost Colours from Cut Copy.

20th Century Art History got cut short, again, so tonight was lattes and cupcakes instead.

My last exam is tonight, but I'm finding it so difficult to take my eyes off of the nomenus quarterly archive I found on 2 or 3 things I know.
So much to look at...I loved these photos of Alberta Ferretti's collection. There are also some really beautiful paintings of collections by Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga and others. I'm going to use this as a source for inspiration often.

I'm in a fashion-y mood because the girls I've been studying with all week and I are going to the first day of Atlantic Fashion Week on Thursday night. Very excited!

uuuugh mid-terms. I'm feeling overloaded by art history words...but excited for a study break this weekend, cd shopping with le boyfriend. The new album from M83 is at the top of my list, it's all I listened to over the long weekend at home, and the sleeve photos are just great.

My new favorite back to school band is Chester French; D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey are Harvard graduates, which is probably the reason their music sounds so smart. It would be nice if their intelligence made its way through my ears into my brain this year.

Yesterday evening I went to Montréal to see Radiohead on tour for their album In Rainbows. It poured rain on us, and afterward there was a rainbow. How perfect. Thom Yorke's voice was incredible, and the light installation was beautiful. I had a wonderful time.

I think this photo from Pia Jane Bijkerk is simply beautiful. and appropriate since I wanted to mention how much I love this artist. The 'I'm Good I'm Gone' remix is my new favorite evening walk song.

I can't count the number of grey, white, oatmeal, and black fashions I have in my closet, but I think I've accepted my natural plain jane ways. Though if I'm not careful, I'll wake up a minimalist one morning.

Windy Wednesday

It was all pain no gain today when I decided to walk home instead of wait for the bus, as it is one of the windiest days. All I'd like to do right now is cuddle in bed and watch Heima. A documentary of the band Sigur Rós on their tour in Iceland. I can't wait to watch it.
